SupplyWorks Named to Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 List for Productivity Results at Danaher Corp. BEDFORD, Mass, 07/13/05 SupplyWorks, Inc., the leader in direct materials procurement and replenishment solutions for discrete manufacturers, today announced that it has been selected by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine as a “2005 Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100” solution vendor for the successful implementation of SupplyWorks® at Danaher Sensors and Controls, a business unit of Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR). Complementing Danaher’s strong lean manufacturing culture, the SupplyWorks implementation enabled Danaher to realize a substantial increase in inventory turns, eliminate non-value-added activities and problems relating to the use of physical kanban cards, and achieve as much as an 80% reduction in administrative activities related to source changes and blanket orders. Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s fourth-annual listing of the Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 recognizes vendors with innovative solutions that have enabled companies to transform and demonstrably improve the functionality of their supply chains. Danaher, a well-known manufacturer of process/environmental controls and tools and components, incorporated SupplyWorks to manage replenishment more efficiently, increase inventory turns and reduce direct materials costs. Danaher has subsequently implemented SupplyWorks at multiple plants. As a pioneer and advocate of lean manufacturing, Danaher aimed to increase inventory turns without creating shortages or reducing the ability to meet customer demand. Danaher focused on improvement of its kanban system for incoming parts—a system where physical cards had been used to manage and track inventory for each of nearly 50,000 parts across four of its plants. Danaher implemented SupplyWorks to create a wireless “e-kanban” system for supplier replenishment. The system combines Web-based software, plant floor wireless handheld devices and bar coding to streamline the supplier signaling process. Specific benefits include eliminating lost cards, increasing visibility and reducing administrative tasks, while adding analytics, alerts and supplier management. “SupplyWorks is delighted to have worked with Danaher to earn the recognition awarded by Supply & Demand Chain Executive,” said SupplyWorks President and CEO Dave Wangler. “With their unwavering focus on continuous improvement of their operations, Danaher has been a great partner and has provided leadership and vision that has driven results.” The judging committee for the Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 identified a list of the top supply and demand chain initiatives at small, midsize and large companies in a variety of industry sectors. The committee particularly sought out innovative solutions that attacked supply chain challenges and produced exceptional supply chain improvements and transformations. The Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 list is featured in the June/July 2005 issue of Supply & Demand Chain Executive, as well as online at www.SDCExec.com.
